당진 석탄화력발전소 인근 지역을 리서치하고 기록해온 과정 속에서, 보이지 않는 에너지의 구조가 지역의 삶과 토양 위에 남기는 흔적을 추적해왔다. 트레일러 안의 흙은 당진환경감시센터가 실제로 채취·분석해온 감시 지점의 토양으로, 환경오염의 현실과 산업 시스템이 남긴 시간을 물질로 드러낸다. 흙 위에 기울어진 형광등은 고압송전탑 아래의 섬락현상을 시각화하며, 감지되기 어려운 위험과 불안한 장소성을 드러낸다. 이 작업은 전력 생산과 소비의 구조적 불균형 속에서, 도심의 편의 뒤에 가려진 주변부의 손실과 희생을 묻는다.
I have traced how the invisible structure of energy leaves marks on local lives and on the soil through my research and documentation around the Dangjin coal-fired power plant. The soil inside the trailer was collected from actual monitoring points that the Dangjin Environmental Monitoring Center has sampled and analyzed, materially revealing the reality of environmental pollution and the time accumulated by the industrial system. The tilted fluorescent lights visualize the arcing phenomenon beneath high-voltage transmission towers, exposing hard-to-detect risks and the unstable nature of the site. This work questions the structural imbalance between energy production and consumption, and the losses and sacrifices borne by peripheral regions behind the convenience of urban life.
